The full-scale refresh across both properties includes vibrant new guest room designs, revamped restaurant menus, playful rooftop programming, and a stylish new identity reflecting the brand’s distinctly breezy, SoCal spirit. With the relaunch comes a new name for each hotel: Shade at the Beach (Manhattan Beach) and Shade at the Marina (Redondo Beach). Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Shade at the Beach introduces a fresh new look and feel. Redesigned guest rooms are light and airy, with a beach-inspired design that creates a serene retreat. Soft greens, blues, and modern finishes set a tranquil tone, complemented by spa-style bathrooms with oversized soaking tubs and in-room steam showers. Tempur-Pedic beds, upgraded tech, and enhanced soundproofing elevate the overall stay.
Downstairs, zinc@shade serves up a globally inspired menu by Executive Chef Hayato Yanai with dishes like Black Cod glazed with housemade miso and served over soba noodles with baby bok choy, red cabbage, bell pepper, cilantro, peanuts, and the Crispy Skin Norwegian Salmon served over sweet corn risotto with sautéed kale and heirloom cherry tomato confit. The cocktail program features handcrafted selections such as the Cucumber Pear Martini with Grey Goose pear vodka, St. Germain, lemon, and cucumber, the Smokin’ Paloma with Nosotros Mezcal Mexicano, ruby red grapefruit, grapefruit soda, lime, agave, and a Tajín rim, and a classic Espresso Martini. Zero Proof cocktails are also available, including the Pineapple Mockarita and Coco Loco.
The restaurant’s indoor-outdoor design reinforces the property’s connection to its beachside location, providing a breezy setting for Shade Hour bites, bottomless mimosas, and live music on the terrace. zinc@shade is open for brunch from 7 AM to 4 PM, and dinner from 4 PM to 10 PM, with the new $10 Daily Shade Hour available daily from 3 PM to 6 PM.
The Skydeck is also now a sun-soaked oasis, complete with a new pool, cabanas, and a breezy atmosphere for everything from morning dips to sunset happy hours. The hotel’s event and meeting spaces have been refreshed, offering flexible layouts and upgraded finishes for weddings, private events, and corporate gatherings. A newly updated catering menu stands out with selections designed to suit a variety of occasions.
SHADE AT THE MARINA: WATERFRONT ESCAPES BY THE BEACH
Just steps from the harbor, Shade at the Marina enters its ninth year continuing to shine with elevated guest rooms featuring private balconies with soaking tubs, Tempur-Pedic beds, and spa-like baths. The Aquadeck rooftop has been reimagined as a laid-back lounge space at this harborfront hotspot, ideal for sunset views and relaxing on new plush furnishings.
At Sea Level Restaurant & Lounge, Executive Chef Tony Zermeno highlights California coastal flavors. Menu highlights include Lobster Mac and Cheese made with fresh Maine lobster, white cheddar béchamel, and breadcrumbs, and crispy seaweed tempura, the Linguini Del Mar with house-made marinara, fresh fish, shrimp, mussels, roasted fennel, and chili, served with garlic herb bread, and the Grilled Tiger Prawns with blackened tiger shrimp, corn purée, roasted corn, shallots, bell peppers, micro greens, and herb oil. Cocktails include the Perfect Pear with Monkey Shoulder scotch, St. George Spiced Pear, orgeat, and lemon, the Marina Margarita with Nosotros blanco tequila, orange liqueur, and lime with a Tajín rim, and the Strawberry Mule with Neft vodka, strawberry, lime, and Fever Tree ginger beer. Zero Proof cocktails such as the Spicy Guava Mockarita and Sunset Chaser are also on the menu.
Sea Level offers a daily breakfast buffet for all guests from 7 AM to 10 AM, complimentary for hotel guests. Lunch is served from 11 AM to 4 PM and dinner from 4 PM to 10 PM, with the new $10 Daily Shade Hour available daily from 3 PM to 6 PM. Weekend brunch begins at 10 AM.
