London, England – Unyoked, the pioneering Australian nature start-up behind the current global off-grid cabin trend, is partnering with Forestry England, the country’s largest land manager, to launch a groundbreaking new initiative that will see off-grid cabins roll out throughout Forestry England woodlands over 10 years,in an effort to help the public access nature and embed its scientifically-proven wellness benefits into their everyday lives.

Starting early 2026, the initiative will initially see five secluded, off-grid and minimal footprint cabins (accommodating 1-2 people) in the first location, with a further 25 cabins at five sites to follow in the year. The cabins will be positioned off the beaten track and away from other cabins, forest facilities, and infrastructure. The experience will allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the forest landscape, offering a new and personal way for guests to enjoy the nation’s forests. This partnership will build on the global success of Unyoked to date, which has been centred around the joy and wellness benefits of taking time out from the everyday grind, to take regular breaks in the wild, to reset and recharge.

Research has shown that time spent in nature can be as effective as established wellness interventions like meditation, yoga, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. A study conducted by Mental Health UK found that 9 in 10 UK adults (91%) have experienced high or extreme levels of pressure or stress at some point in the past year, and almost a quarter feel unable to manage stress and pressure levels in their lives. Backed by extensive scientific research, connecting with nature is shown to significantly reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and enhance overall well-being. A 2024 study by Unyoked and AllTrails, found that participants who spent time in Unyoked’s cabins experienced a reduction in feelings of burnout and increase in positive mental wellbeing of up to 50% higher than other more commonly used interventions like exercise, mindfulness, or art therapy.

This partnership with Forestry England is a significant milestone in Unyoked’s mission to make nature a habitual, accessible part of everyday life. It will expand our current off-grid cabin offering in the UK, giving nature-seekers the special opportunity to stay in the nation’s beautiful forests. England’s forests are rich in history and biodiversity, and we’re excited to provide unique spaces where people can disconnect, recharge, and experience the profound wellness benefits of spending time in nature firsthand. Cam Grant, co-founder of Unyoked

For over a century, Forestry England has been dedicated to managing and protecting public woodlands, enhancing biodiversity, and connecting communities with nature. This partnership with Unyoked signifies a bold new chapter in this mission, integrating sustainable accommodation that invites deeper, more secluded, and tranquil overnight interactions with the forest environment.

We are thrilled to partner with Unyoked on this exciting initiative that will help more people experience the nation’s forests, offering innovative and exciting ways for people to enjoy them. It’ll be a great addition to Forestry England’s strong track record of long-term, successful business partnerships. Like us, Unyoked put sustainability at the heart of their business. We’re confident Unyoked’s ground-breaking, low-impact off-grid cabins will allow people to enjoy a slower-paced, secluded and tranquil stay in our woodlands, to really connect with nature and restore their wellbeing. Mike Seddon, Chief Executive, Forestry England

Forestry England and Unyoked’s shared goal is to inspire a nationwide movement towards nature immersion. By opening nature experiences and making them more appealing, they hope to cultivate a deeper appreciation for England’s forests and foster a sense of stewardship that will help protect these vital ecosystems for generations to come. This partnership is an extension of Forestry England’s current activity, accommodation, and wellbeing offerings, which includes physical and adventure activities, overnight stays, wellbeing trails, and more.

In keeping with Unyoked’s commitment to sustainability, all off–grid cabins are designed to use solar power and composting systems to lessen the environmental impact. Each location, with five or fewer off-grid cabins, will be specifically chosen to ensure seclusion and immersion, allowing guests to experience the forest while leaving a minimal footprint on the environment.

The mobile cabins will feature Unyoked’s signature minimalist design, blending seamlessly into the natural landscape, with a low impact, low touch approach, all while offering the comforts needed for a restful stay. Additionally, Unyoked provides guests with sustainable and locally sourced amenities, enhancing the connection between the cabins, their guests, and the surrounding environment.

To date, Unyoked’s locations have been largely on private land with individual landowners wishing to allow access to their property which would not usually be open to the public. This partnership is based on the same principles of enabling people to reach parts of the natural landscape for an overnight stay that would not otherwise be possible.

Bookings for the first Unyoked cabins in Forestry England forests will open 2026.
