Last week, Justin Clancy MP, the local Member for Albury, and Albury Mayor, Kevin Mack, joined Veriu Group CEO Zed Sanjana, Commercial Club Albury General Manager, Jeff Duck, CGA Chairman Graeme Edgar, Premier Building Company’s Anthony Baker, and Studio 35 Architecture principal Warren McVean to mark the official ground-breaking of the new Punthill Albury Apartment Hotel, located at 600-652 Dean Street in the heart of Albury’s CBD.

Scheduled to open in late 2026, the new property will feature 83 apartment-style rooms and deliver a much-needed new premium accommodation option to one of regional New South Wales’ most strategically significant cities. The project is being developed by the Commercial Club Albury, constructed by Premier Building Company, and designed and managed by Studio 35 Architecture.

Meeting a Growing Regional Demand

The latest addition to Australia’s fastest growing apartment hotel portfolio, the new Punthill Albury Apartment Hotel will provide a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with a number of DDA-accessible rooms available. Each apartment will feature a fully equipped kitchen, in-room laundry facilities, smart TV with streaming capability, and free high-speed WiFi, catering to both short and extended stays.

Guests will also enjoy a wide range of on-site facilities, including, a welcoming ground-floor lobby lounge and reception; two conference rooms; a fully equipped gymnasium; guest pantry; and secure on-site car parking.

The new property is designed to meet the rising demand for high-quality accommodation in Albury, which continues to benefit from sustained civic investment, infrastructure upgrades, and its position as a critical hub on the Melbourne-Sydney corridor.

Why Albury?

Albury is one of the largest regional cities in New South Wales and plays a central role in connecting the broader Murray-Riverina region. Its strategic location on the Hume Highway also makes it a natural stopover for corporate, government, and leisure travellers alike.

Indeed, the city is currently undergoing a significant phase of infrastructure and civic renewal, with more than $400 million in planned investment across transport, health, and urban development. Major projects include the $31.5 million Albury Entertainment Centre redevelopment, the Albury Airport Western Precinct expansion, and a large-scale water and wastewater upgrade program supporting population growth in the Thurgoona-Wirlinga corridor.

A Property for Both Corporate and Leisure Guests

The new Punthill Albury property has been designed to serve a broad mix of guests, and its location and facilities are expected to appeal to:

  • Corporate and Government Travellers – visiting regional offices, attending conferences, or commuting along the Sydney-Melbourne corridor.
  • Health and Education Visitors – accessing Albury Wodonga Health, Charles Sturt University, or specialist services.
  • Leisure Travellers – exploring the Murray River, Albury Botanic Gardens, cultural festivals, and nearby wineries.
  • Long-stay Guests – including medical patients, relocating professionals, and extended project staff.

Location Advantage

The Dean Street site places guests at the centre of Albury’s commercial, cultural, and civic activity; within walking distance are cafés, restaurants, and retail precincts, as well as cultural attractions such as the Albury Library, Museum and Botanic Gardens. The property also offers easy access to riverside parks, walking trails, and major institutions including Charles Sturt University and Albury Wodonga Health.

Project Partners and Timeline

The Punthill Albury project is a collaboration between some of the region’s most respected organisations – Commercial Club Albury is the project developer, with Premier Building Company as the appointed builder, and Studio 35 Architecture as the architect and project manager.

Construction is now officially underway, with the property set to open in 2026.

A Strategic Expansion for Veriu Group

Punthill Albury is part of Veriu Group’s ambitious national growth strategy, which is targeting 80 hotels across Australia in the coming years. The commencement of work at Punthill Albury takes to 6 the number of new hotels currently under construction across metropolitan and regional centres, including Shepparton (VIC), Adelaide CBD (SA), Ryde (NSW), Epping (NSW) and South Yarra (VIC).

Whether for business or leisure, the Punthill Albury Apartment Hotel is set to become a new landmark destination for visitors to the city.
